Dr. Shankar Matam
Matam Shankar is the founder of Sahara Health and Development Society and a passionate advocate for inclusive social progress. With a career that bridges academia, healthcare, and public service, he has led the creation of transformative programs in healthcare, education, disability care, and rural development. A multi-disciplinary professional, Shankar holds academic degrees in Public Health, Hospital Administration, and Psychology. He is a Research Scholar in Development Studies, with a focus on building sustainable, community-centered models for empowerment and inclusion. He is also a Fellow in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Local Governance, reflecting his commitment to aligning grassroots action with global development frameworks. Through his leadership, Sahara has grown into a platform that combines institutional capability with community participation, working tirelessly to improve the lives of children with disabilities, senior citizens, rural populations, and economically marginalized groups.Matam Shankar continues to inspire and guide a dedicated team that shares his vision of building a more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable society.

Master of Public Health designed for impact, leadership, and field readiness
The MPH course duration is two years with four semesters of six months each, including two months internship in the second semester and a dissertation in the fourth semester.
Program Structure
Semester I
Foundation learning in core public health principles and population health concepts.
Semester II
Continued academic learning with field-based internship for practical exposure.
Semester III
Advanced topics, analysis, applied public health understanding, and professional strengthening.
Semester IV
Dissertation work, academic report submission, and completion of the program.
Core Subjects & Entrance Focus Areas
The lists entrance-test related public health areas such as communicable diseases, non-communicable diseases, MCH, primary health care, family and behavioral sciences, statistics, epidemiology, demography, nutrition, sanitation and hygiene, environmental health, health agencies, and population policy.
Simple admission criteria with a strong academic base
The candidates need a Bachelor Degree with at least 50% aggregate, there is no age restriction, and applicants must qualify in the entrance test with the required marks. The candidate should also be medically fit.
